Terms of service

The service

PoisPois is an online course in European Portuguese, used at poispois.app. Lessons, exercises, feedback and the tutor’s replies are generated by AI and checked by automated rules for European Portuguese. They are good, and they are not infallible: if something looks wrong, tell us at [email protected].

The CIPLE and civics tracks prepare you for the CIPLE A2 exam and for the knowledge of Portuguese culture and civics that the 2026 nationality law requires. They are preparation, not a guarantee of a result; the exams are set and marked by others.

Accounts and households

• You must be an adult to open an account and subscribe.
• The adult who opens the account owns the household. They can add people up to the plan’s seat count, including children, and are responsible for the household’s use of PoisPois — including agreeing to these terms and the privacy notice for any child they add.
• Keep your password to yourself. Each person in a household has their own login.

Plans and prices

Prices include VAT. You can also pay in US dollars at the dollar price shown at checkout. Paying yearly costs eleven months instead of twelve. Payments are processed by Stripe.

The free trial

Every subscription starts with seven days free. We ask for a card at the start and charge nothing during those seven days. Checkout tells you the amount and the date of the first charge before you confirm. If you cancel before that date, you are never charged.

Renewal and cancellation

• After the trial, your subscription renews automatically each month or each year until you cancel.
• You can cancel at any time in the app. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for, and you keep access until then.
• Canceling deletes nothing. Your household’s progress stays where it is if you come back. To delete it, use Conta → Os vossos dados (poispois.app/conta/dados) in the app.
• If we change a price, we will email the household owner at least 30 days before it applies to you, and you can cancel before then.

Refunds

• Annual plans: you can ask for your money back within 21 days of the first annual charge, for any reason. Write to [email protected].
• Monthly plans: apart from your right of withdrawal below, monthly charges are not refunded once taken.
• Your right of withdrawal: if you are a consumer in the European Union, you may withdraw from the contract within 14 days of subscribing without giving a reason. The free week sits inside those 14 days; if you withdraw after a charge but still within them, write to [email protected] and we will refund it. An email saying you withdraw is enough; you may also use the model withdrawal form in Decreto-Lei n.º 24/2014, but you do not have to.
• Nothing in these terms limits the rights consumer law gives you where the service is faulty or not as described.

Using PoisPois fairly

You agree not to:

• share one login between several people, or resell access;
• use automated tools to extract content or drive the AI features at volume;
• use the tutor or the topic generator to produce unlawful, abusive or sexual content;
• try to get around the service’s security or usage limits.

We may suspend an account that does these things. Except in a serious case, we will write to you first and give you the chance to stop.

Content

The course, its lessons and its design belong to PoisPois. You may use them for your own and your household’s learning. What you write in the app stays yours; you allow us to store and process it to run the service, as the privacy notice describes.

Availability and liability

We work to keep PoisPois running, but it may sometimes be unavailable for maintenance or for reasons outside our control. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. None of this limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited, or your rights as a consumer.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms in a way that affects you, we will email the household owner at least 30 days before the change applies. If you do not agree, you can cancel before then.

Law and complaints

These terms are governed by Portuguese law. If you are a consumer living elsewhere in the EU, you also keep the protections of the law where you live, and you can bring a claim there.

If something goes wrong, write to [email protected] first — most things are solved in one email. You can also use the Livro de Reclamações Eletrónico. For consumer disputes you can go to the Centro Nacional de Informação e Arbitragem de Conflitos de Consumo (CNIACC); the other consumer dispute resolution centers are listed on the Portal do Consumidor.
